ParryStyles adds Parry to the style of different inspirations such as Street Fighter and Ultrakill, allowing players to block, reflect and counter both physical attacks and projectiles
How many styles are there?
Currently, it has six styles: references to Street Fighter 3rd Strike, Ultrakill and Devil May Cry, plus a joke style and an elemental style
Street Fighter
The Street Fighter style can parry almost everything and is also compatible with various mods as long as they use the same damage as in vanilla Java (and I mean almost everything, even fall damage)
Ultrakill
The Ultrakill style can only parry physical damage and projectiles, but with some advantages. When parrying physical damage, you heal 2 hearts and reflect double the damage. When parrying a projectile, you reflect double the speed and damage. The Ultrakill style also has self-parry (like in the game, you can parry your own bullets, in this case, arrows)
DMC (Devil May Cry)
The DMC style has both rewards and dangers. When performing a parry, you have only a few milliseconds to land it. If you miss, you'll be stunned and vulnerable (taking double damage) while stunned. If you succeed, the opponent will be stunned and vulnerable, both effects lasting longer than a missed parry. Against bosses (mobs, players with more health than the Wither), you'll need to accumulate 5 parries to stun them, but don't worry, successful parries will still grant the opponent vulnerability
Real DMC (Devil May Cry 5)
The Real DMC style brings the Royal Guard from Devil May Cry 5. Royal Blocks fill the Royal Gauge (max 100): press the Release key the moment a hit lands to perform a ROYAL, spending the entire gauge on a devastating counterattack. If you mistime it you get a GUARD instead: half the gauge, a weaker counter, and 2 HP of recoil. Revenge arms your gauntlet so the next hit you take is fully countered. Every successful parry also builds your Style Rank, from Dismal to Smokin' Sexy Style, so keep the rhythm going
JokeStyle
A style created as a joke (or for those who want a serious, literal challenge): a "Probability" indicator appears in the top-left corner, starting at 50%. Probability of what? Instant death. If you miss a Parry, the probability increases by 5% (capping at 95%). If you land a Parry, one of two things happens: either the mob or opposing player dies instantly, or you die instantly
Pray when the probability hits 95%
Elemental
A medium-rhythm style (0.3s window, 0.1s perfect). A successful Parry cancels the hit and, if the attack carried an element (fire, lightning, poison, wither, ice or magic), it is captured: your next hit unleashes it. A perfect Parry holds the element 50% longer. Against other players only a perfect Parry steals the element (and their charge is spent even when parried). Failing does not stun, only a short cooldown
This is compatible with other Mods?
Yes, from what I see, most do, but not all; not everyone uses the Vanilla/Forge code
How do I change styles?
By default everyone has Street Fighter, but you can use /parrystyle to see your current style, and /parrystyle (style) to choose any of the 6 styles. The command can be used by all users without needing /op
Why did I make this mod?
A group of friends and I wanted to use a parry mod in Minecraft, but there weren't any for older versions or for more arcade-style gameplay. That's why I started with Street Fighter, and another friend suggested Ultrakill xd
Does it work in LAN/Multiplayer?
Yes, it works perfectly in multiplayer
It still has bugs, so I welcome any helpful suggestions
